Hello, I’m Catherine
In college, my passion for cake-making flourished as a stress reliever from long essays. I decided to switch paths and turning down a placement on a psychology degree, and moved to London to train at Le Cordon Bleu. I graduated as a classical pastry chef.
After gaining invaluable experience at various London bakeries, I set up Piper’s Bakery, supplying London cafe’s with a variety of vegan cakes. Whilst finding my way in the self employed world, I met my lovely partner Dan. We decided we preferred the quiet life and wanted to be closer to family, so we moved to Wiltshire with our beautiful dog, Odin.
I became devoted to bespoke cakes and worked hard on my decorating techniques - reigniting my love for creativity and art, making unique wedding and celebration cakes.
I take inspiration from both nature and the character of my customers, combining beautiful watercolour and pallet knife artistry with mouthwatering flavours. I love that no two cakes I make are the same, each brush stroke is different.
You’ll find my camera full of wedding cake inspiration, from garden centres to flowers and interesting finds on a forest walk. Natural meadows and water fill me with calm and always sparks my creativity. Anything will have me thinking about cake - from rewilding websites, wildflower books or even a vintage dress pattern.
When I'm not baking, painting or sketching, you'll find me on a long walk with Dan & Odin, often practicing some training, enjoying nature and taking a breather from the busy atmosphere of the kitchen. Odin is half German Shepherd and half Labrador - creating his adorable floppy ears (they are SO soft).
I love playing the piano to unwind, and I'm a macrame enthusiast, creating quirky pieces for my home. Finding new patterns is my favourite, so if you’re an enthusiast too, let me know if you have any that you’d like to share!
Wandering around Warminster & Frome is great, drinking good coffee and doing that all important market research - finding a piece of vegan cake to devour (it would be rude not to)! If you can find Lamina Bakery’s vegan croissants, they are absolutely amazing and I could not recommend them more.
Plus, I’m always hunting for new cosy jumpers or hidden gems in charity shops to spark my next creative project.
Cake is one of those delightful things that just makes everything better. To me, it always says, “I really care.”
Whether a friend is going through a tough time and needs a little pick-me-up, or someone in my family has had some wonderful news and there’s reason to celebrate, I love baking them a cake (or two!). It’s my way of sharing a bit of comfort, love, and joy.
Creating bespoke vegan wedding cakes and birthday cakes means I get to be part of those special moments that bring people together. There’s nothing quite like seeing someone’s face light up when they see their cake for the first time - it’s such a lovely feeling knowing I’ve added a little extra happiness to their day.

Sustainability and animal welfare are in my heart - it wouldn’t feel right to own a business that didn’t align with my own beliefs, and so I take care over every decision I make to see if I can make it a lille bit more sustainable or kinder to the planet.
I draw so much inspiration from nature, it important that I help take care of it, wherever I can. Have a read of my Sustainability page to find out a little more about the steps I take.
If you have the time, it’s worth checking out Heal Somerset, a local rewilding charity, who are doing some fantastic work locally. I regularly donate to Heal as their nature reserve is so special. Go and visit if you have the time!
