9. If we cannot complete your order due to an unforeseen circumstance such as above, we will refund you the full balance that you have paid, as long as the fault lies with ourselves and not the customer. If we are unable to source an ingredient for your cake, we have the right to make a substitution with another suitable ingredient without compensation and will inform you of this decision. 16. CHANGE OF TERMS
a. Piper’s Bakery has the right to update and change these terms and conditions as our business continues to grow and expand. We will inform you of any changes as they occur and seek your agreement.
FRESH FLOWER GUIDLINES (for fresh flower weddings/celebration cakes only) There are new guidelines from the FSA in the UK that state certain fresh florals should not be used on wedding cakes. We will have had a conversation about which flowers are and aren't suitable for your cake. Please note the updated guidelines below:
1.CHOOSING YOUR FLOWERS
a. Once the new legislation comes into effect (est. late 2024), there will be a list of banned flowers that I will not be able to attach to your cake. If we have inadvertently chosen one of these flowers before the legislation comes into effect, I will update you and we can decide on a safer flower to use together.
b. I will only attach either edible or non-edible, but safe to use if close to food, flowers to your cake. I will be guided by information gathered by floral experts such as the RHS.
c. If you choose a non edible, but safe near food flowers, then you acknowledge that these fresh flowers are not a food product, and may contain pesticides, insects, dirt, or other contaminants - although they are always washed before use.
d. Some people can have allergic reactions to certain flowers, so please make sure the flowers you have chosen are safe for both you and your guests.
2. PREPPING YOUR FLOWERS
a. Your flowers will be thoroughly washed before use.
b. Your flowers will be attached to your cake using a 'posy pick' barrier. These are plastic tubes, with a closed bottom, in which the stems will sit in, before being inserted into the surface of your cake. This helps stop possible contamination between your cake and your chosen flowers.
3. SERVING YOUR CAKE WITH FRESH FLOWERS IN MIND
a. Please remove any flowers from your cake before cutting and serving your cake.
b. Please assume that your cake flowers are not safe to eat, unless specifically stated by myself.
c. The posy picks that have been inserted into the surface of your cake are usually a clear clouded plastic colour, so please do take care to remove these as well, to ensure none are left behind in cake and served to guests.
3. OUTSOURCING FLOWERS FROM ANOTHER FLORIST
a. If flowers are provided by an outside source, I will place them for an additional fee.
b. These flowers will need to be in accordance with the new guidelines, and not contain any toxic or banned flowers. I will not attach any outsourced flowers that are not considered safe.
c. I will not allow a florist to attach their flowers to your cake, this will need to be done by myself. This is because they will need to be food registered and have the appropriate hygiene qualifications to do so, which many florists don't have in their usual line of work.
d. I will need to be able to thoroughly wash any outsourced flowers in a food safe sink at your venue, before attaching to your cake, if I haven't been able to do so beforehand in my kitchen. If I cannot wash them, then I cannot attach them to your cake. I will continue to update these guidelines as more information is released. If you have any questions regarding these new guidelines, please don't hesitate to ask. As ever, I am very happy to help!
